Study Details Jobs Most Likely to Lead to Divorce

Clearly, the way the modern world works means that our lifestyles and our overall approaches to life tend to be dictated to a degree by our occupations.  As such, there are certain professions that tend to lead to a divorce at higher rates than others.  Researchers at Radford University recently made the effort to compile a list of the occupations that tend to lead to higher rates of divorce than others, and many of the entries on that list were far from surprising.

The top five jobs that lead to high divorce rates, according to  the study, include:

  1. Dancers and choreographers
  2. Bartenders
  3. Massage therapists
  4. Gaming cage workers
  5. Extruding machine operators

While few if any people would have guessed that these were the top five entries, there are several commonalities that can be identified with relation to most of them.  Clearly, these occupations involve long hours that tend to take place on evenings and on weekends.  These jobs also can involve a high degree of travel and a high level of contact with others for prolonged periods of time.

Overall, experts tend to vary on the importance of a person’s job as it relates to the likelihood of divorce.  Some feel that this is a critical choice to make with regards to the potential for a successful marriage, while others contend that as long as spouses make a commitment to spend quality time together, any job schedule can be overcome.
