Report Shows Military Divorce Rate Highest in Air Force

While many statistics that deal with members of the military remain largely generalized to include all members of the armed forces, there are certain types of developments that are studied and tracked more closely so that those who oversee military operations can deal with trends as they arise.  One of those developments is that which involves the military divorce rate, and recent statistics have shown that the Air Force is the arm of the military that has the highest rate of marriages ending.

According to a report released by the Defense Department in December, approximately 30,000 military divorces were completed during the fiscal year of 2011.  Of those 30,000 military divorces, more than 7,500 involved members of the Air Force.  In addition, more than 6,700 of those specific military divorces involved enlisted airmen.  All of this led to an overall divorce rate of 4.6 percent.  This marks part of a significant rise in the military divorce rate in recent years with personnel contacting a San Diego military divorce lawyer from Men’s Legal Center.

Dating back to 2001, when military personnel began to be deployed in Afghanistan and then later in Iraq, the military divorce rate among personnel has climbed slowly save for two years where it basically leveled off.  Experts tend to agree that the stress of deployment along with the long-term separation of the families involved have been contributing factors to this rise.  Other experts also warn that the military divorce rate could continue to climb as soldiers begin to return home from deployment.
