McCourts Finally Settle California High Asset Divorce Case

When people of a high net worth decide that they want to end their marriage and the documents that tend to govern their relationship are either unclear or nonexistent, it can lead to years of nasty and costly litigation. Unfortunately, many of these situations also tend to play out in public, much to the chagrin of those involved and other family members. Unfortunately, a prolonged divorce battle between Frank and Jamie McCourt has also led to stress for fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but it appears that at least the divorce aspect of this complicated situation may finally be coming to an end.

According to several reports, Frank and Jamie McCourt have finally settled to terms that will allow their marriage to be legally dissolved. For several years, the couple has been battling over how their estate should be divided. Most prominently, this battle included control of the Dodgers, as Frank McCourt claimed that he owned the team outright and Jamie McCourt claimed that was not the case and attempted to force the sale of the team.

However, the parties have reached an agreement where Jamie McCourt will receive a cash payment of $130 million and Frank McCourt will retain sole control of the Dodgers – for now. At this point, Frank McCourt must do battle in bankruptcy court with Major League Baseball in an attempt to retain control of the franchise.
