Here at the Men’s Legal Center, we’re all about making sure men get a fair shake during their California divorce. We also want to do what we can to make their everyday lives a bit easier.
With that in mind, we offer the following life hacks for men.
- Got a stain? Pour salt on it right away.
Let’s say you or a guest spills some food or drink on your carpeting. The first course of action is to immediately scatter a bit of salt on the stain. Let it sit for a few hours to settle in. Then, simply use a vacuum to get it out. BAM! - Is there a scruff in your wood furniture? Smooth it out with a walnut.
Here’s how it’s done: slide your finger along the length of the scratch. Now, run half of a walnut on it. The warmth created by your finger will help the wood absorb the oil from the walnut. Then, use a dry cloth to buff the scruff. Voila! - Don’t hide the baldness; keep your hair tight.
Combovers easily evoke a host of reactions; none of which are in your favor. Baldness is “in” so keep the sides and the top short. You’ll feel liberated…and hip! - Obey the “sometimes, always, never” guideline for suit coats and blazers.
Here’s a sure-fire way to avoid what is always a fashion faux pas. Your top coat button can sometimes be fastened (it’s up to you); the middle button should ALWAYS be fastened; and the bottom button should NEVER be buttoned. Why? It’s just the way a civil society works! - Washing your sneakers? Here’s how to avoid the loud banging noise from the dryer.
If your washer has a drum well inside, simply place your sneaker on top so they don’t rotate with the inside bin. Another method is to tuck your shoelaces into the dryer door so the shoes hang in place while the bin spins.
- Want to cook like a champ? Invest in a good, quality knife; a heavy-bottomed pot; and a slow cooker.
While the best knives can be a bit pricey, they’re a good investment to make. They’ll make cooking far easier, won’t quickly dull, and save you money from not having to keep buying cheaper knives. Before buying a pot or pan, pay attention to its bottom. The heavier it is, the more heat it will absorb. It will also probably last much longer.
A slow cooker is an absolute must for just about any kitchen. Simply throw in your ingredients before leaving from work and set the temp on low. When you come home, the wonderful scent of a cooked dinner will greet you at the door.
