Illinois Custody Battle Shows Extremes To Which Parents Will Go

When a divorce case is filed and parents of children of the marriage begin to separate themselves from each other, one of the most emotionally charged issues that can arise involves the fight over child custody.  Unfortunately, there are parents who will become irrational when this battle arises and who will go to shocking ends in order to further their interests, including the complete separation of a child from the outside world.

Unfortunately, such was the case with a recent divorce in Illinois.  A mother decided to take her son while the issue of child custody was still at issue and to hide him in her mother’s home.  In addition, she and her mother painted her windows black, refused to allow the child to go to school and refused to allow the child outside except at night and in areas that could not be seen from the outside.  Finally, the women would force the child into a crawl space when visitors would come to the home.

This conduct went on for two years, and finally police raided the home and found the child.  The mother claimed that she was shielding the child from an abusive father, but the family court awarded the father custody of the children.  The mother and grandmother were also arrested and charged with serious crimes.

Clearly, the case above represents the extreme in terms of what parents will do when these situations arise, but what fathers and husbands should realize is that they should not give up on the battle for custody if it’s contested.  Refusing to relent in a legal manner could lead to a positive result in many cases.

If you are facing the prospect of ending your marriage and you’re concerned that you will have problems securing custody of your children, you need to act as quickly as possible in order to give yourself the best chance possible for a positive result.  Seek the help of San Diego child custody lawyers who have been fighting for the rights of fathers for many years.  Contact the Men's Legal Center today to schedule an initial consultation.
